The Environment and Infrastructure Services Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 42 signalized intersections within the City of Orillia. Another 15 intersections along the Highway 11 and Highway 12 corridors are owned and operated by the Ministry of Transportation.
To report a malfunctioning traffic signal, please contact us during normal business hours or call 705-326-4671 after hours.
The installation of new traffic signals is evaluated using Ontario Traffic Manual guidelines that are consistent with the content of the Highway Traffic Act. Traffic signals installed at inappropriate locations can interfere with each other, distract drivers, and be visually ineffective. To inquire about the possibility of installing a traffic signal at a particular location or the addition of a turning lane, please contact the Development Services and Engineering Department.
The City of Orillia has compiled a map indicating the locations of all intersections which contain traffic signals. The map indicates whether the traffic signals are owned and operated by the City of Orillia, or the Ministry of Transportation.
