Orillia's waterfront is known as the jewel of the Trent-Severn Waterway and even that description does not truly capture the beauty of the city's Couchiching Beach waterscape. The waterfront includes more than 21 acres of park space at Centennial Park and Couchiching Beach Park, a focal point for community festivals and special events.
With a popular boat launch, free boat trailer parking, and the 222 fully serviced slips at the Port of Orillia, the waterfront is a boaters' paradise. The sandy beach area draws residents and visitors alike to its idyllic setting.
A stone's throw from the downtown, the waterfront is also home to French's Hot Dog Stand, which opened on June 3, 1920 and conjures images of a by-gone era. Located beside scenic Couchiching Beach Park, the eatery's chairs and tables have welcomed Stephen Leacock and generations of residents and visitors.
Designated Boat Trailer Parking
In 2017, designated boat trailer parking took effect in two specific lots: the former CPR right-of-way, north of the existing refreshment vehicles adjacent Centennial Drive, and in the City-owned gravel lot off of Tecumseth Street, behind the Royal Oak Restaurant (see key map).
To ensure surrounding areas do not become congested with boat trailers, there is signage identifying that boat trailer parking is prohibited. All illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed.
