Get Up and Be Winter Active!
Winter Active is designed to help Orillians improve their health while having fun enjoying the best of Canada's winter. Bring your household together and participate in as many activities as you can in February. This year we have a variety of free family-friendly events! There is truly something for everyone. Best of all? All events are free!
We are happy to announce that Winter Active will begin February 2, 2022 in accordance with the Province of Ontario reopening guidelines.
Due to current provincial COVID-19 restrictions pre-registration is required for most activities. Please register at Orillia.ca/sun to reserve your spot! Pre-registration for all activities will begin January 31, 2022.

SNOWMAN BUILDING CONTEST: Join the movement and send us your best creations of a snowman! To enter the snowman contest: 1. Build a snowman with your household members in your yard. 2. Take a picture of your creation and e-mail it to svanluven@orillia.ca by no later than 8:00 p.m. on February 9, 2022. 3. Photos will be featured on our Facebook Page and the public will be permitted to vote for their favourite until February 16 at 4:30 p.m. The photo with the highest Facebook likes will be the winner! 4. The winner will be announced February 17 at 12:00 p.m. on Facebook. 5. Remember to like and follow your submission and share with your friends and family! Please follow the below guidelines: 1. Snowman submissions must be suitable for all audiences; the City or Orillia will remove any submissions deemed to be inappropriate at its sole discretion. 2. Snowman picture submissions are considered to be public and will be viewed by the general public. 3. Submission of snowman pictures provides permission to the City to use images for marketing purposes at its sole discretion. Prizing: 1st prize winners will win a goodie bag full of City of Orillia swag and complimentary passes to the Orillia Recreation Centre! Closing of the contest is weather dependent so be sure to build your snowman, take pictures and post while there is still snow on the ground, and the weather is cold. |

SNOW-GA w/ROSANNA: Take your yoga mat outdoors and join us for a Snow-Ga session! You will be guided through an hour-long yoga and mediation class with an experienced instructor. FAMILY DAY FREE PUBLIC SKATING: Join us Family Day for FREE public skating. We're offering three sessions: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Rotary Place (Blue). Pre-registration is required. |

CARDBOARD TOBOGGAN RACE: This very popular activity will once again hit the slopes. Get creative with the design of your toboggan and don't forget to challenge your neighbours, friends or co-workers to come up with a better design then yours. Entries may be made as individuals or as a team, and all toboggans must be made primarily out of cardboard. Additional items may be used on the underside of the toboggan; however a traditional sled may not be attached (i.e. using a crazy carpet as the base). Acceptable materials include: duct tape, tin foil, shower curtains, garbage bags, etc. If you are uncertain if the material is acceptable, contact the Recreation and Youth Division for more information at 705-325-4386. Please note you must register one of your team members for this activity. Prizes will be available.
