Postal Service Disruption

Effective Friday, May 23, 2025, Canada Post workers, who are members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, have launched a nationwide overtime ban for employees. As a result, Canada Post will continue operating but customers may experience delays.As a result, several City services may be affected.The City of Orillia will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates related to service impacts as they become available. Please continue to visit the City of Orillia’s website or follow us on social media for information. For updates regarding the potential Canada Post labour negotations, please visit canadapost.ca.  

Residents and businesses in the City of Orillia may face delays in receiving paper bills including property tax bills and water bills.  Despite the postal service disruption, tax and water bills will continue to be issued and payment due dates will remain unchanged. 

If you are expecting a bill from the City, have a payment due to the City, or if you think you may have an outstanding balance, we encourage you to contact our staff to confirm your balance, due date, and available payment options. For assistance, please contact Orillia City Centre general line 705-325-1311.  

To avoid delays, penalties or missed notices regarding property taxes or water and sewer bills, please contact the Finance Division at 705-329-7239 or email treas@orillia.ca for further information. 

Tax Billing and Payments: Property owners are still required to obtain balances and pay their property taxes, despite any Canada Post labour disruption.  

The 2025 final tax bills for properties are planned to be available on June 11, 2025. The first instalment due date is Aug. 15, 2025.  

The following alternative payment methods are available: 

  • Automatic Withdrawal: Sign up for the Pre-Authorized Property Tax Payment Plan to have payments withdrawn directly from your bank account.  

  • Online or Telephone Banking: Payments can be made online or by telephone with your bank. To pay online, ensure you add the City as a payee.  

Search “Orillia” in the payee search and select the property tax option from the payee list to add the City. ​The 12-digit roll number, found on your tax bill, is the account number you will use, without any dashes.  

  • Financial Institutions: Property tax payments can also be made at most financial institutions. The 12-digit roll number, found on your tax bill, is the account number you will use, without any dashes. 

  • In Person: Payments can be made in person at the Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew St. S., during hours of operation (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.). Outside of regular business hours, payments by cheque can be placed in the payment drop slot at the main entrance of the Orillia City Centre. 

Water/Sanitary Sewer Billing and Payments: Property owners are still required to pay their water/sanitary sewer bills, despite any Canada Post labour disruption.

Water bills for Ward 2 are scheduled to be mailed on May 29, 2025, and balances are due June 30, 2025. Bills may be delayed. Residents can contact the City of Orillia to receive their balance in the event of delays.   

Parking Tickets 

The public is still responsible for paying Penalty/Parking Infraction Notices on pre-set due dates.  

The following methods of payment are available: 

  • Online: You can pay parking tickets online using VISA or Mastercard at orillia.ezpayca.com. It is quick, easy, secure, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

  • In person: You can pay at the Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew St. S. (First Floor), Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Cash, cheque or debit are accepted. The drop box by the front entrance of the Orillia City Centre is also available for payment by cheque. 

Public Meetings and Notices: 

Council and Committees of Council 

Public notice regarding Council and Committee meetings will be provided on the City’s website and the City’s social media channels. 

Committee of Adjustment 

Committee of Adjustment notices can be viewed on the Committee of Adjustment webpage on the City’s website and will be mailed to property owners within the prescribed circulation as per the City’s usual practice.

General City notices will be provided on the City’s website and the City’s social media channels.
