For immediate release (April 30, 2025) – The Leacock Museum is the destination for family fun this spring and summer. Reopening May 1, 2025, for the season, the museum has plenty of events planned for families and children.

“Spring and summer in Orillia are all about creating memories, and the Leacock Museum offers the perfect backdrop,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “From hands-on children’s activities to guided tours and outdoor events, the museum blends family fun with a celebration of Orillia’s cultural roots.”

A Bouquet from Me: Kids Mother’s Day Activity – May 10, 2025

On May 10, children are invited to the Leacock Museum boathouse to create their own bouquet and make a card to give as a gift to celebrate someone special this Mother’s Day. The program costs $10 plus HST per child. Pre-registration is required, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Fun Day – May 17, 2025 

To kickstart the May long weekend and the unofficial start of summer, the Leacock Museum will be hosting its first ever Family Fun Day on May 17. Children’s admission will be free with the purchase of an adult admission ($5 plus HST). Inside the museum, children can complete an iSpy activity with the artifacts on display and a scavenger hunt while adults can visit the newest temporary exhibit, 100 Years of the Great Gatsby. Various other activities will be held throughout the day on the grounds. Drop by between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. No pre-registration is required. 

House & Grounds History Tours – May 18 to Aug. 31, 2025

With summer on the horizon, the museum will begin tours for the season on May 18and will continue daily (at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) through to Aug. 31. Tickets for these tours are available online at LeacockMuseum.ca and are $10.62 plus HST per person. Tickets will include a guided tour of the historic Leacock home and boathouse to see the Boating Old Brewery Bay exhibit.

Shop by the Lake - June 7, 2025

The Orillia Farmers’ Market pop-up experience, Shop by the Lake, will return to the museum’s grounds with over 40 vendors selling a variety of goods. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with guided tours at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Self-guided tours will also be running throughout the day.
