For immediate release (April 29, 2025) – The City of Orillia is proud to celebrate National Youth Week from May 1 to 7, 2025, highlighting the talents, energy, and leadership of young people within our community.
“Youth are the future of our community, and their energy, ideas, and leadership are invaluable," said Mayor Don McIsaac. “National Youth Week is an important reminder of how vital it is to create opportunities that empower our youth to thrive, and I encourage everyone to come out and show their support.”
National Youth Week is an opportunity for communities across the country to come together to recognize the positive contributions youth make in areas such as arts, recreation, sport, civic engagement, leadership, and volunteerism. Orillia is joining the movement by hosting a week of events focused on celebrating and empowering young people.
The City’s Youth Centre invites the community to the official kickoff event on May 1, 2025, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Orillia Recreation Centre (255 West St. S.). The free event will feature a BBQ sponsored by Harvey’s Orillia, youth-led games, community booths, and information on the weeklong celebration.
Throughout the week, the Orillia Youth Centre will host a variety of activities celebrating youth engagement across leisure, health, education, and civic involvement.
“National Youth Week is about more than just activities, it’s about recognizing the voices and passions of young people,” said Kevin Gangloff, Manager of the Orillia Youth Centre. “We are proud to celebrate youth in Orillia and invite everyone to join us in making this week an inspiring and memorable one.”
