Notice of Nomination for Office

Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s.32)

Notice is hereby given that Nominations for the following offices will be accepted by the City Clerk:

City Council:

  • Mayor
    One (1) to be elected at large
  • Councillors
    Eight (8) to be elected; two (2) in each of the four (4) wards

School Boards:

  • Trustee, Simcoe County District School Board (English-Public)
  • Trustee, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (English-Separate)
  • Membre, Conseil scolaire Viamonde (French-Public)
  • Membre, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (French-Separate)

Nominations may be filed in the office of the City Clerk, on the prescribed forms and accompanied by the prescribed filing fee of $200 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, debit, certified cheque or money order made payable to the City of Orillia.

Nominations for City Council candidates must be accompanied by an Endorsement of Nomination signed by 25 eligible voters supporting the nomination. The individuals providing signatures must be eligible to vote in the municipality on the day they signed the endorsement.

Candidate information packages, including all prescribed forms, will be available no later than April 30, 2026 at: Orillia City Centre Customer Service and orillia.ca/2026election

Nomination papers must be signed by the candidate, and the complete package may be filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours from May 1, 2026 and August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day). To submit nomination papers, make an appointment with the Clerk’s Office by contacting 705-325-1311 or online at orillia.ca/2026election.

Reminder: No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes, or incur expenses, until that person has filed a nomination paper.

Avis de déclaration de candidature à une fonction

Loi de 1996 sur les élections municipales (art. 32)

Avis est par les présentes donné que les déclarations de candidature aux fonctions suivantes seront reçues par le greffier municipal:

Conseil municipal:

  • Maire
    Un (1) poste à pourvoir à l’échelle de la municipalité
  • Conseillers
    Huit (8) postes à pourvoir; deux (2) dans chacun des quatre (4) quartiers

Conseils scolaires:

  • Conseiller scolaire, Simcoe County District School Board (anglais public)
  • Conseiller scolaire, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (anglais catholique)
  • Membre, Conseil scolaire Viamonde (français public)
  • Membre, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (français catholique)

Les déclarations de candidature peuvent être déposées au bureau du greffier municipal, au moyen des formulaires prescrits et accompagnées des droits de dépôt exigés, soit 200 $ pour le poste de chef du conseil et 100 $ pour tous les autres postes. Les droits de dépôt sont payables en argent comptant, par débit, par chèque certifié ou par mandat-poste libellé à l’ordre de la Ville d’Orillia.

Les déclarations de candidature pour les postes au conseil municipal doivent être accompagnées d’un formulaire d’appui à la candidature signé par 25 électeurs admissibles appuyant la candidature. Les personnes signataires doivent être admissibles à voter dans la municipalité à la date de leur signature.

Les formulaires de mise en candidature doivent être signés par le candidat, et le dossier complet peut être déposé en personne ou par l’entremise d’un mandataire pendant les heures normales de bureau, du 1er mai 2026 au 20 août 2026, ainsi qu’entre 9 h et 14 h le vendredi 21 août 2026 (jour de la déclaration de candidature). Pour soumettre une déclaration de candidature, veuillez prendre rendez-vous avec le bureau du greffier en communiquant au 705-325-1311 ou en ligne à orillia.ca/2026election.

Rappel: Toute personne qui a l’intention de se porter candidate ne peut solliciter ni accepter de contributions à des fins électorales, ni engager de dépenses, avant d’avoir déposé sa déclaration de candidature.
