TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Orillia will hold a Public Meeting on Monday, November 17th at 1:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be dealt with, in the Council Chamber, Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew Street South, to consider the municipally-initiated Zoning By-law Amendments set out below.
PLEASE NOTE that this meeting may be attended either in person at the Council Chamber, Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew Street South, Orillia or electronically as set out later in this Notice.
DESCRIPTION OF THE LAND:
All Housekeeping Amendments apply to all land within the City of Orillia, and as such no key map has been provided.
Purpose and Effect:
The purpose and effect of the proposed municipally-initiated amendments to the City’s Zoning By-law propose to further improve and clarify the City’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law 2014-44, as amended.
The proposed housekeeping amendments to the Zoning By-law fall into the following general categories:
- Removing provisions that extend beyond the legislative powers of a Zoning By-law set out in the Planning Act.
- Limiting provisions to only private properties and not including regulations for municipal road allowances regulated by other documents.
- Reorganizing Section 6 – Parking and Loading Standards to distinguish between the parking area design for five or fewer vehicles versus six or more vehicles.
- Allowing more flexible parking design and removing landscaping and snow storage requirements when a lot only requires five or fewer parking spaces to reflect the recent change of allowing up to four dwelling units on a lot.
- Permitting more uses within the various zone categories to support economic growth and respond to market demand.
