Map: Orillia Transit Stops Unavailable During Route Trial

Contact(s)

For immediate release (July 25, 2025) – The City of Orillia is enhancing transit service to better meet the needs of the community. Beginning Aug. 15, 2025, Orillia Transit will launch a trial of an all-day transit stop at Lakehead University on the West Ridge via Old Barrie Road Route. The trial will run until April 30, 2026.

Council authorized this change on May 12, 2025 and the adjustment aims to improve access to Lakehead University for students, staff, and visitors by making the stop available throughout the day on West Ridge routes travelling both north and southbound, rather than limiting access to evening hours only for riders travelling northbound.

Servicing Lakehead University during all operational hours, adds additional travel time to the West Ridge via Old Barrie Road Route. To facilitate the additional time required, three existing transit stops along the West Ridge via Old Barrie Road Route will be removed for the duration of the trial. The impacted stops are identified on the attached map.

“We’re always looking at ways to improve service and respond to where residents and riders need better access,” said Danielle Eves, Manager of Parking and Transit. “This trial will help us better understand if an all-day stop at Lakehead on both routes benefits the community and fits into our broader transit system.”

Riders are encouraged to review the map for stop changes and plan ahead. Feedback during the trial period is welcome and will be considered as part of the City’s evaluation of the route adjustment. All feedback can be emailed to transit@orillia.ca.
