For immediate release (Jan. 18, 2023) – The City of Orillia would like to remind residents and other stakeholders how to stay informed, engaged and connected with your City.
“Your local Council makes decisions about services and programs that impact your daily life and we want to ensure community members are aware of how they can stay in the know and engage with us about City programs, projects and services,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “As we enter 2023 and a new term of Council, we encourage residents to stay up to date and participate in Council proceedings by reviewing Council meeting agendas, watching or attending Council, participating in public meetings and Open Public Forum, and communicating with Members of Council.”
Council Meetings
Regularly scheduled meetings of Orillia Council take place twice each month except for March, July, August and December, which will have one meeting (see attached schedule), and begin at 2 p.m., subject to inclusion of Public Planning Meetings or other special Council matters.
Regular meetings will take place in the Orillia Council Chamber at Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew St. S., and will be televised on RogersTV Cable Channel 10 and streamed online on the RogersTV website at rogerstv.com/orillia. Viewing options for Special Council meetings may vary.
Meeting agendas are available online at orillia.ca/councilmeetings on the Friday prior to the Council meeting date. Highlights regarding decisions are posted after the meeting on the same page.
Residents or organizations who would like to appear before Council for a deputation can make a request to the Clerk’s Division by visiting orillia.ca/councilmeetings. Residents can also request to speak at the Open Public Forum portion of the Council meeting regarding a matter listed on the Council agenda by pre-registering with the Clerk’s Division up to four hours prior to the meeting start time.
Communicating with Council
There are several ways to communicate with Council, either as a whole or with individual members. All written correspondence to be considered for placement on a Council agenda should be addressed to “Mayor and Members of Council” and can be dropped off or mailed to the Orillia City Centre (50 Andrew St. S.) or emailed to clerks@orillia.ca.
Residents can also contact their Ward Councillors or the Office of the Mayor via email or telephone directly. For more details on how to communicate with Council, visit orillia.ca/councilmeetings.
