For immediate release (April 17, 2025) – The City of Orillia is advising residents of a temporary road closure required to facilitate critical underground infrastructure work in the area of Murphy Road and Uhthoff Line.
“The Inch Farm Arterial Road project is a vital step in opening up new residential and industrial lands that will support Orillia’s growth and economic development,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “We appreciate the public’s patience during this temporary closure as essential infrastructure is installed.”
Beginning Monday, April 21, 2025, Maacon Construction will be installing sanitary and water infrastructure as part of Phase 1 of the Inch Arterial Road project.
To complete this work safely and efficiently, Murphy Road and Uhthoff Line will be closed to through traffic for approximately six weeks, weather permitting. Access will be maintained for emergency services and local traffic only. A detour will be in place (see map).
The project involves construction of a portion of a new arterial road including all underground and above ground infrastructure to support proposed residential development and the greenfield development of approximately 6.64 hectares of vacant industrial employment lands, east of Uhthoff Line and adjacent to Highway 11.
Development of the arterial road and associated infrastructure also requires consideration for servicing of adjacent existing and commercial properties on Murphy Road and Uhthoff Line.
