For immediate release (October 8, 2014) – The City of Orillia Election Team is busy preparing for the Advance Vote Days, which begin on Saturday, October 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Orillia City Centre.
“The municipal election falls on Monday, October 27 this year,” said Deputy Clerk, Janet Nyhof. “Not everybody can make that date so the Advance Vote Days are a great alternative, and a good way to beat the election day rush.”
There are six Advance Vote Days in total, taking place on;
· Saturday, October 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
· Thursday, October 16 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
· Friday, October 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
· Saturday, October 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
· Tuesday, October 21 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
· Wednesday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All Advance Votes will take place on the first floor of the Orillia City Centre, located at 50 Andrew Street South.
“The Election Team has worked hard to ensure everyone can enjoy an independent voting experience,” said Nyhof. “All voting locations will feature the new AutoMARK Voter Assist Terminal this year, which provides a range of options for voters with disabilities.”
On Election Day (October 27) an Election Express bus has also been added to take voters from the Downtown Terminal to all four voting locations.
Voters are reminded to bring identification and their Voter Notification Cards. Election campaign materials such as shirts, buttons and signs should be left at home, as these will not be permitted at Voting Locations.
