Atlas Block’s industrial property is moving closer to becoming a residential neighbourhood.
“We currently have a site plan approval application before us for the first 55 townhouses,” Orillia’s senior planner, Andrea Woodrow, said recently.
Titan Homes is planning the construction of 120 apartment units in the form of eight-storey buildings, 178 townhouses and future commercial space.
“We’re certainly very excited about the Atlas Block development,” said Lawrence Saltzman, president of Titan Homes. “We look forward to big changes in the north ward. We’re going to create a beautiful development and are looking forward to getting started as soon as possible.”
Development will begin in the middle of the 9.5-acre Ferguson Road property, Woodrow said.
“They would have to demolish the existing buildings and structures on the site,” she said.
The site plan approval is in the early stages of review, Woodrow said.
“Normally, site plan approval takes anywhere between four and six months,” she said.
Once the site plan is approved, Titan Homes can apply for building permits, Woodrow said.
