Christopher Bellchambers, Mike Davenport and Betty Nosworthy were presented the Order of Orillia by the City of Orillia’s Commemorative Awards Committee at a special ceremony Sept. 30, 2013.
“The Order of Orillia provides the City an opportunity to acknowledge our community’s finest volunteers,” said Mayor Angelo Orsi. “These three individuals are being honoured for their long-term commitment to volunteerism. Our community is filled with Order of Orillia recipients in the making and we look forward to recognizing them in the future."\
“It’s important to recognize those in the community who dedicate their time and efforts to volunteering,” said Betsy Gross, Commemorative Awards Committee Chair. “Orillia is a great community with a large volunteer base and I wish we could have selected all of this year’s nominees.”
The Order of Orillia recognizes individuals and groups who dedicate their time and effort to bettering the community through volunteerism. The award is reserved for residents who have enriched the lives of others through a decade of service to the people of Orillia and who stand as shining examples in the community. Established in 2000, the Order of Orillia has been awarded to community members such as Douglas Christie, Charles Penny, the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Volunteers and Robert Bowles.
