The water buoys lines at Couchiching Beach Park were severed and stolen overnight on Aug. 4, 2015. The beach is still open with lifeguard supervision.
The City of Orillia Parks, Recreation and Culture Department has replaced the buoy lines with temporary buoys, however the perimeters of the swimming areas are not in the exact formation as beachgoers may be used to. The buoy lines are used to distinguish between shallow and deeper water, and for beach patron safety.
Lifeguard staff at Couchiching Beach Park are available to answer any safety questions from beachgoers throughout the day.
The Orillia OPP have been notified. If any member of the public has information pertaining to the missing buoys, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
For more information please contact the Orillia Parks, Recreation and Culture Department at 705-329-7250.
