Can’t wait for Culture Days? Get a sneak peek of the upcoming event with celebrated sculptor Karen Brodie at a preview workshop Saturday Sept. 21, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in Ramara Township.
Brodie, a second generation sculptor and artist whose work is featured in the National Library of Canada among other places, will host a mini soapstone symposium at her studio as a teaser for the much-anticipated Culture Days weekend Sept. 27-29.
Participants will learn about the basic materials, tools and techniques required to carve a loon alongside Brodie and other guest artists. This preview workshop provides participants and the media a unique and interactive look into what they can expect during Culture Days.

The City of Orillia has joined the national Culture Days celebration on Sept. 27-29 with a variety of local cultural activities available throughout the city. With 35 activities registered, Orillia is currently ranked 12th in Ontario for the highest number of cultural experiences scheduled.
Launched in 2010, Culture Days represents the largest collective public participation campaign undertaken by the arts and cultural community in Canada. It connects activity organizers and artists with the public in a way that allows people to discover and experience the creative process.
