City launches Orillia and Area Business Directory

With nearly 2,000 businesses already listed, the City of Orillia is excited to launch the Orillia and Area Business Directory.

This online resource allows business owners to promote their services and have an online presence, while also giving the City’s Economic Development Office a direct communication line to industry.  The Orillia and Area Business Directory is a free directory that includes information on businesses within the city, as well as those in the surrounding townships.

“Marketing is one of the biggest challenges facing businesses of all sizes,” said Dan Landry, Manager of Economic Development for the City of Orillia. “For small business, the opportunity to have a free listing like this is an excellent way for them to promote themselves at no cost.”

Registering a listing is easy. Business owners or operators can go to the new directory at www.businessinorillia.ca to see if a listing for their business already exists. If it doesn’t, click on the “registration” button at the bottom of the page. Businesses can also add their corporate logos, update contact and basic information and add a link to their corporate website. If a listing already exists, businesses can contact the Economic Development Office for login and password information, and updates can be made as often as the business likes. To ensure the directory is up to date, the Economic Development Office will send out annual update reminders.

Spearheaded by the City’s Economic Development Office, the idea for the directory came out of the Orillia Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) project.

The business directory will also serve as a communications tool for the City’s Economic Development Office, who will use the contacts to support businesses through promotion and to share important information such as workshops, training, and funding opportunities.
