Community invited to recreation facility open house

For immediate release (May 20, 2015) – The City of Orillia is inviting the community to learn more about a recreation facility proposed for 255 West Street South at an upcoming open house, scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, at the Orillia City Centre. 

“Council directed staff to plan an open house as a critical component of moving forward with the recreation file,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “The open house will enable the community to have a one-on-one conversation with project staff.” 

The open house will take place from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, on the first floor of the Orillia City Centre. The open house format allows the community to drop-in at any time within these two hours, to browse informational displays and converse with project staff. John Kaasalainen, District Engineer with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will also be on-hand to answer questions. While many decisions are currently in progress, the open house will feature the most recent information available on the proposed site, amenities, design and costing. The open house does not include a scheduled presentation. 

“The open house is a great opportunity for the community to come and learn more about what will be your community centre,” said Clarke. 

It is anticipated that City of Orillia presentation boards featured at the open house will be posted on the project webpage the following day, at orillia.ca/recreationfacility.  Additional information and updates will be provided through this webpage as they become available.
