Having trouble remembering when to put out the trash ever since Orillia moved to every other week garbage collection? Download the City of Orillia’s new mobile app Pingstreet and never miss a garbage day again.
Curbside collection is only one of the featured tiles of the City’s new mobile app. Enter your local address and get a personalized curbside collection calendar showing you when your garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste curbside pick-up day is. It even accounts for delayed collection during weeks with statutory holidays. The optional “remind me” feature will notify you of when to place items at the curb for pick up. Other tile features include an upcoming events and meetings calendar, an interactive City trails map, a contact us option, and access to the City’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.
“The City is always looking for innovative ways to share information with our residents and visitors in order to continually improve our communications and customer service,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “By downloading the City’s new mobile app, you are able to access real-time information affecting your everyday lives right at your fingertips.”
“Orillia residents are doing really well with the implementation of every other week garbage,” said Greg Preston, the City’s Manager of Waste Management. “The curbside collection feature on the City’s mobile app will make it even easier for residents to remember when to put out what on collection days.”
Pingstreet is a free mobile app that provides Orillia residents and visitors with real-time access to helpful information using engaging tools. The app is Global Positioning System (GPS) based, so it knows where you are currently located and relays requested information accordingly. By leveraging existing City data, the process of making information available to mobile users is streamlined, time-efficient, and cost-effective.
The City of Orillia is officially launching its mobile app on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Orillia and Lake Country Business Expo, which runs from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Casino Rama. Stop by the Pingstreet table to download the app and get a demo of its many features. Pingstreet is available for free download in all major app stores. See the attached information sheet for more details on Pingstreet.
