Register for Culture Days before July 31, 2015, and qualify to receive a $100 honourarium along with national, provincial, and local marketing exposure for your organization or business.

Culture Days, which runs from Sept. 25 – 27, is an annual event where artists and cultural organizations are invited to connect with the public by providing free interactive, behind the scenes activities. The goal of this event is to promote the arts and engagement in culture in communities across Canada.

“In previous years, Orillia has been one of the busiest Culture Days communities in Ontario. As a result, the City’s activities have garnered national exposure,” said Jacqueline Sockza, Manager of Culture for the City of Orillia.

Whether you are a seasoned activity organizer or a lover of the arts with something to share, this is your chance to take part in one of the largest public arts campaigns in Canada. Past organizers have provided the community the opportunity to experience a dance performance, sing with a choir, learn to paint, or get a taste of culinary arts. The last date to register is Sept. 18, 2015.

Important dates to remember

Organizations are encouraged to register early and consult with local organizers to make the most out of their activity.

  • July 31 – Early bird registration deadline. Your activity must be registered before midnight on July 31 in order to qualify to receive an honourarium.
  • Aug. 22 – Register by this date to be included in our marketing materials and local map of activities.
  • Sept.18 – Last minute registrations are available through the Culture Days national office.

Registration Information

To take part in Culture Days 2015 your activity must:

  • Be free to the public (donations, ticket sales to upcoming shows and program registration are encouraged if they are supplementary to the main attraction);
  • Take place within the Culture Days weekend (Sept. 25, 26, and/or 27);
  • Be participatory (hands-on) for visitors;
  • Be registered at http://orillia.ca/culturedays.

For more information on Culture Days and to register an event or activity, visit http://orillia.ca/culturedays or contact Haleigh Fox, Cultural Event Coordinator for the City of Orillia, at 705-238-8124.
