Early registration opens for Culture Days activity organizers

Registration is now open for Culture Days 2014.

Register your activity by April 30 for a chance to win tickets to the National Congress on Culture in Winnipeg May 22 and 23, 2014. Early registration also means more exposure though national, provincial and local marketing initiatives.

Culture Days, which runs from Sept 26-28, 2014, invites artists and cultural organizations to connect with the public by providing free interactive, behind the scenes activities promoting arts and culture in their communities.

“Orillia’s Culture Days event continues to grow each year and I anticipate 2014 will be no different,” said Mayor Angelo Orsi. “I encourage local organizations and artists to showcase Orillia’s vibrant arts and culture scene to the rest of Canada on this national platform.”

Whether you are a seasoned activity organizer or a culture lover with something incredible to share with your community, this is your chance to take part in one of the largest ever public participation campaigns undertaken by the arts and cultural community in Canada.

“Last year, Orillia was the 12^th busiest community in Ontario for Culture Days, with more than 30 activities registered throughout the weekend,” said Jacqueline Soczka, Manager of Culture for the City of Orillia. “Our goal this year is to place among the top ten in the province.”

As a result of the many Culture Days opportunities offered in 2013, Orillia artists received additional media exposure through the provincial Culture Days office.

Individuals or groups thinking of registering are encouraged to contact Soczka at 705-325-4530 prior to registration to co-ordinate Orillia events. Registration remains open until Summer 2014.
