Just as its name suggests, The Chocolate Kingdom serves up “pretty much everything and anything chocolate,” said Brianna Lawder, who co-owns the downtown business with her husband, Paul Todish.
The shop specializes in delectable creations known as “smashables” — a chocolate shell filled with a range of chocolate-dipped items, from strawberries and Oreos to pretzels and sour keys.
“You get little hammers with it, too,” Todish said of the miniature tools sweet tooths use to shatter the shells.
Favourites include hot chocolate bombs that melt and release marshmallows when placed in steamed milk or water.
“And we have our own 28-plus-topping ice cream bar,” Lawder added.
With temperatures dropping, the couple plans to convert the ice cream bar into a hot chocolate bar for the winter season.
In addition to its store, The Chocolate Kingdom also provides catering for weddings, birthdays and other special events.
“We do snow cones, we do cotton candy machines, we do popcorn machines,” Lawder said. “We also have our chocolate fountain.”
