Orillia area shoppers could win a $500 downtown shopping spree simply by completing an online survey about shopping locally.
The Orillia Economic Development Office has joined forces with the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Orillia Management Board to learn more about the shopping patterns of local residents and visitors.
The survey is part of a project that began at the 2013 Orillia & Lake Country Business Expo, where Georgian College Research and Analyst Program students conducted an exhibitor and attendee survey, which led to a report on local shopping habits.
“The results of the survey and the report were very interesting,” said Dan Landry, Manager of Economic Development for the City of Orillia, who added that in order to validate the survey results, it has been suggested that further surveying of local shoppers be undertaken.
“Not only will this research help us better understand local shopping habits, but it will provide useful information such as reasons for not shopping locally and gaps in stores and services, which we can use to guide new projects and to attract new business to the area,” said Landry.
Anyone who shops in Orillia is encouraged to fill out the short survey for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree in Downtown Orillia. The survey can be found at www.orillia.ca/shoplocal until June 23.
