PRESS RELEASE
Bright ideas and innovative solutions are as welcome as sunshine and dramatic fall colours in Lake Country.
With that in mind, Ontario’s Lake Country – the region's destination marketing organization – is hosting a brainstorming session for everyone in the region connected to tourism on Oct. 10.
"We are here to serve our members and the tourism industry and we recognize that to do that well, it's critical that we all work together," said Jennifer Whitley, Lake Country’s marketing co-ordinator.
Whitley said the agency is especially looking for ideas on how to improve tourism opportunities during shoulder seasons and during the middle of the week.
"One of the suggestions from the town hall meeting that we held in June was that we put together some packages and promotions to better market Lake Country," said Whitley. "We want to hear from people within the local tourism industry, to look at various opportunities so that we can narrow our focus to key experiences and tourism activities."
Ideas and input from the brainstorming session will then be considered prior to Lake Country developing its initiatives for 2013.
"Ontario’s Lake Country is providing this opportunity for (tourism industry leaders) to let us know what they think is best," Whitley said. "One of the biggest things that came out of the tourism roundtable and from the Orillia Hotel Association was a desire to stop duplicating services. We want to ensure that we’re not duplicating anything that’s already in place before establishing our initiatives for 2013."
The brainstorming session will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 2-4 p.m. in the Tudhope McIntyre board room at the City Centre (50 Andrew St. S.). Please RSVP Whitley – by email: jennifer@ontarioslakecountry.com or by phone: 705-325-9321 – to let her know you’re coming.
If you can't make the session but want to provide input, you can email your suggestions to jennifer@ontarioslakecountry.com.
