Job seekers will have a chance to meet with more than 30 local employers - who are hiring right now - at the 10th annual “Spring Into Action” Job Fair, set for Tuesday, March 5 at the Orillia Square Mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
Northern Lights Canada, the Georgian College Centre for Career and Employment Services, Orillia Community Development Corporation and the City of Orillia, in partnership with a number of community organizations and businesses, will be hosting the event, where a range of local and regional employers from government, manufacturing, hospitality/tourism, retail, health sectors and many others will be represented.
Each year the Orillia Job Fair attracts dozens of employers and hundreds of job seekers. Job seekers from previous years report that attending the job fair and speaking directly to employers helped to secure them a job. As such, job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their updated resume.
Employers enjoy meeting job seekers face-to-face and jump starting their spring recruiting for employees, according to Northern Lights resource centre project coordinator Kathy Low.
“Employers are looking for streamlined ways to hire,” said Low. “There are jobs out there and the job fair is an opportunity to meet employers, and make that all important first impression.”
The Centre for Career and Employment Services at Georgian College and Northern Lights Canada Employment Services Centre, located at the Orillia City Centre, provide a range of services to job seekers and employers. These organizations work together with the Orillia Square Mall and other community partners to offer this free, local job fair annually.
