Nine local organizations received $13,481 in funding today as part of the City’s final installment of the 2013 grants program.
“Today’s grant presentation wraps up a year of the City supporting some of our community’s most dedicated organizations,” said Mayor Angelo Orsi. “Council’s commitment of $35,000 in 2013 grant funding has gone a long way to help organizations make a difference in our community.”
The City’s 2013 grants budget was $35,000. A total of $34,981 was awarded to 22 groups in amounts ranging from $500 to $4,500.
The final 2013 grant recipients were:
- Take a Vet to Dinner: $500
- Orillia Terry Fox Run Committee: $631 (in kind)
- The Sharing Place Food Bank: $4,500
- Telecare Distress Line of Greater Simcoe: $1,500
- Child Advocacy Centre of Simcoe/Muskoka: $850
- Simcoe Community Services Foundation: $500
- Orillia Christian Centre: $3,000
- Harmony Centre – St. David’s Anglican Church: $1,000
- Royal Canadian Legion, Br.#34, Pipes and Drums: $1,000
