In this year’s edition of the 2014 Progress Orillia and Area, the Orillia Packet and Times highlights some of the progress being made on various fronts in and around Orillia.
It will be a year of bright futures and redevelopment as the City sees the start of construction of the new secondary school and fire hall, the establishment of a new Arts District and plans moving forward to creating the downtown of tomorrow, not to mention the addition of approx. 150 new jobs to be created in 2014 with the opening of the OPP Civilian data entry centre.
Orillia's "Open for Business" approach has been enhanced by an improved streamlined site plan approvals process and several community organizations continue to work together to help businesses succeed and tourism flourish.
The City has also extended its moratorium on industrial development charges.
