Nordia Inc., one of the largest bilingual call centre operators in North America, has acquired the assets and lease of a call centre in Orillia, Ontario, formerly operated by TeleTech. Under the agreement, TeleTech will continue to use a portion of the facility to provide services to existing customers, while Nordia will take over management of the centre. Nordia is now hiring new customer service representatives in order to begin training this week.
“We are excited to acquire this first class centre and create attractive new jobs in the City of Orillia,” said John DiNardo, president of Nordia. “Starting today we begin our recruitment campaign to attract and train 400 talented customer service representatives to join our team in Orillia.”
"The City of Orillia is pleased to welcome Nordia to the community," said Orillia Mayor Angelo Orsi. "We are very pleased to see the recent joint effort between TeleTech and Nordia. Together with the City of Orillia, we are creating new job opportunities in our area. This is welcome news."
The Orillia call centre is Nordia’s 7th centre in Canada and will operate seven days a week, providing exceptional service and support for Bell residential customers in Ontario and Québec. Once fully ramped up, Nordia expects its activities will contribute more than $15 million per year to the local economy.
“TeleTech will maintain a presence in Orillia and our commitment to the community remains strong at this time,” said Todd Baxter, senior vice president of operations, TeleTech. “We are delighted that Nordia has agreed to acquire a substantial portion of the assets of the site and are taking over a portion of the lease, as this will help ensure job opportunities in the Orillia community.”
The centre, owned by the City of Orillia and located in West Orillia, is equipped with the latest technology and has been leased to TeleTech since 2002. During its 12 years in Orillia, TeleTech averaged just over 400 employees and an annual payroll of approximately $14 million.
With the addition of the Orillia Centre, the total number of Nordia employees will grow to over 2,300, including over 2,100 customer service representatives, over the next six months.
