For immediate release (May 11, 2016) – The Orillia Fire Department and community partners will help educate Grade 6-8 students at Monsignor Lee Catholic School about emergency preparedness on Friday, May 13, 2016.
As a follow-up to national Emergency Preparedness Week, which ran May 1-7, and in light of recent wildfires and evacuations in Fort McMurray, AB, the importance of being prepared in the case of an emergency is a vital lesson to learn. Orillia is not secluded from potential emergencies, particular given its high potential for ice/wind storms that can cause power loss and extensive damage.
