For immediate release (January 12, 2015) – The Orillia Police Services Board is pleased to announce that Inspector Pat Morris has been appointed the new Orillia OPP Detachment Commander.

“Inspector Morris, in his new role, is a welcome addition to the community. He brings many years of extensive policing experience and leadership to this position,” said Mayor Steve Clarke.

Inspector Morris began his career with the Ontario Provincial Police in 1996, and was posted to the Orillia OPP Detachment in 2000. Previous experience includes roles in Organized Crime and Covert Operations, the Provincial Anti-Terrorism Section and most recently a term in the Aboriginal Policing Bureau (APB).

A joint committee consisting of Board members and persons nominated by the OPP Commissioner recently selected Inspector Morris in accordance with the process set out in the OPP’s provincial policies.

“The Board looks forward to collaborating with Inspector Morris to ensure the delivery of adequate and effective police services,” said Board Chair Rick Fraracci.

Inspector Morris will manage the day-to-day policing services and ensure that the Board’s policing plan is administered, and is looking forward to returning to Orillia.

“I truly enjoyed the opportunity of working as a front-line police officer in Orillia; this gave me a different insight in my own community,” said Morris. “I am confident that the members of Orillia Detachment and I will continue the great work that Inspector Malcolm Quigley and the detachment have already accomplished here in Orillia.”

Inspector Morris will begin working at the Orillia OPP Detachment on January 19, 2015.
