For immediate release (July 15, 2025) – Due to the heat warning in place, the City of Orillia will open air-conditioned cooling and hydration centres for public use from July 15 to 17, 2025. The City encourages anyone – especially those susceptible to extreme heat – to make use of the centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat warning is lifted.
The following public places have been identified as cooling and hydration centres:
Orillia Public Library
36 Mississaga St. W.
Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: closed
Orillia Recreation Centre
255 West St. S.
Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Splash Pads will also be open daily at the following locations:
McKinnell Square Park
135 Dunedin St.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Clayt French Park
114 Atlantis Dr.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Victoria Park
75 Coldwater Rd. W.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Moose Beach at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park

Open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Hillcrest Park

Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
For up-to-date statuses on the splash pads, visit orillia.ca/splashpads. Couchiching Beach and Moose Beach are open with lifeguards on duty daily. Lifeguard hours for these days have been extended to noon to 6:00 p.m. at Couchiching Beach and 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Moose Beach (UPDATE: Please note beaches are currently under a swim advisory).
