For immediate release (November 19, 2014) – The City of Orillia has closed a portion of Matchedash Street due to significant infrastructure damage caused by a broken watermain.
A portion of Matchedash Street, approximately 30 metres in length, has suffered significant damage after a large diameter watermain break occurred overnight under the paved surface. Matchedash Street is now closed to vehicles between Brant and Jarvis Streets, and is expected to remain closed throughout the evening and into tomorrow. Residents will be allowed access within this stretch of roadway from Jarvis Street only. The 30 metre stretch will remain closed to all vehicle access.
Motorists are asked to avoid this area while crews work to repair damage. Updates on the road closure will be posted on the City of Orillia website at www.orillia.ca.
