Several areas within the City of Orillia suffered damage due to the storm Friday evening.
The Orillia Fire Department is asking residents to avoid the Couchiching Beach Park and Tudhope Park while they assess these areas for damage. Residents are encouraged to respect caution tape, and ensure children stay clear of these areas. Damaged limbs and branches can pose a risk of falling until properly assessed.
Fallen trees throughout the City should be avoided. Please ensure children and pets stay clear of these hazards as they are unstable and can shift at any time causing injury.
Residents are also asked to avoid travelling to damaged areas to see the damage and/or take photos as these areas are unsafe, and this causes congestion and obstructs crews. For your safety, please avoid these areas to allow staff to properly assess and clear damage.
Your patience while we work to clear damage is greatly appreciated.
