Update: Nov. 3, 2022
The repair of the heat exchanger at Rotary Place is now complete and the City has all hands on-deck with crews working around the clock to build the ice surfaces.
Crews have successfully reinstalled the ice base on the green side; logos have been put in place and lines have been painted. We anticipate completing the logos and lines on the blue side shortly. The focus moving forward will be to continue building up the ice surfaces to the appropriate standards.
Provided there are no unforeseen issues, the City is working towards having the ice surfaces ready in time for the Jim Wilson tournament scheduled for Nov. 11 to 13, 2022.
Further updates as to when the ice will be available to user groups will be provided once the process of ice making is nearing completion and a firm reopening date can be provided. Updates regarding public use for programming such as public skating, shinny hockey etc. will be posted online at orillia.ca/active once available.
The City would like to thank the community and our user groups for their continued patience and flexibility during this time. Updates regarding the status of the facility continue to be provided directly to user groups and posted on the City’s website and social media channels.
