Shop locally at the Orillia and Lake Country Business Expo

More than 100 local vendors will showcase their products and services at the Orillia and Lake Country Business Expo taking place at Casino Rama on Tuesday Oct. 22 from 3 to 9 p.m. Growing from 12 vendors in 2011 to 104 exhibitors in 2013, this year’s Expo will be the largest trade show Casino Rama has hosted to date.

“The response to this Expo has been overwhelming and that’s great for consumers,” said Laura Thompson, Economic Development Officer with the City of Orillia. “We have a whole range of local businesses including home improvement, beauty supplies, financial services, health and wellness providers, and recreational-oriented facilities. People will find everything they are looking for under one roof.”

Unlike industry-focused trade shows and events, the focus of the Orillia and Lake Country Business Expo is to showcase local talent and services. Consumers will benefit by having a variety of local business offerings in one place. Registered exhibitors will be also offering show specials, product giveaways and promotional materials unique to this expo.

The underlying theme of the Expo is the importance of shopping locally.

“When you shop locally, you not only support the local economy and local jobs, you save travel time, you save gas money and you build a sense of community by getting to know your neighbours,” said Thompson.

This year’s Orillia and Lake Country Business Expo is being held during Small Business Week and is being organized by the Orillia Business Association, the Orillia and Area Community Development Corporation, Orillia’s Economic Development Office, the Business Enterprise Resource Network and the Chambers of Commerce in Orillia, Oro-Medonte and Ramara Township.

The expo will run from 3 to 9 p.m. with hourly draws for $100 in Expo Dollars that can be spent at the event. For more information, visit orilliabusinessexpo.ca.
