Volunteers Jim Campbell, Ken Forbes, and Roy Menagh were awarded the Order of Orillia by Mayor Steve Clarke and the City’s Commemorative Awards Committee at tonight’s Council meeting.
“Volunteers are the backbone of our community and the three individuals honoured tonight exemplify what it means to be a great volunteer,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “On behalf of Council, I’d like to thank Jim, Ken and Roy for their continued service to the people of Orillia; our City is a better place because of them.”
“I’d like to thank the three Order of Orillia recipients for their hours of dedicated service to the community. These three individuals continue to enrich the lives of our residents through their volunteer work with many different organizations throughout Orillia,” said Betsy Gross, Commemorative Awards Committee Chair.
Menagh was unable to attend this evening’s presentation and will accept his award at the Council meeting on April 25, 2016.
Established in 2000, the Order of Orillia recognizes individuals and groups who dedicate their time and effort to bettering the community through volunteerism. The award is reserved for residents who have enriched the lives of others through a decade of service and who stand as shining examples in the community.
