The City of Orillia is offering an alternative day camp program called ‘Camp Orillia’ this summer as a child care service to help parents who are returning to work.
Camp Orillia registration is now open to residents of surrounding townships in order for staff to determine operational needs, such as final camp locations and staffing requirements, in order to meet demand. Originally, priority registration for ‘Camp Orillia’ was reserved for City of Orillia residents until June 28, 2020.
Camp Orillia is offered to children ages six to 12 and will begin on Monday, July 6, 2020. The alternative day camp program will incorporate public-health measures, including physical distancing, small camp sizes, daily health assessments, alternative locations, extensive cleaning measures and modified programming. The camps, which will be offered week-by-week at a variety of locations throughout Orillia, will have a ratio of 1:4 (one counsellor for every four kids), with a maximum of eight participants per program area, in order to manage mandatory physical distancing.
Camp Orillia will remain open to City of Orillia and surrounding township residents until spots are filled. To register visit orillia.ca/sun.
For information on safety precautions, what a day at ‘Camp Orillia’ looks like, and our updated Parent Handbook, please visit orillia.ca/camps or contact the Community Services Department at parks@orillia.ca or 705-329-7250.
