Ditch the car and hit the pavement in support of Walk n’ Wheel Wednesday on June 24.
“I’d like to encourage Orillia residents to walk, bike, or wheel to work this Wednesday to promote a more active and healthy lifestyle,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “Council is committed to building a healthier and happier community and active transportation is one way we can work towards that goal.”
Council proclaimed Wednesday, June 24, as Walk n’ Wheel Wednesday in the City of Orillia. Walk n’ Wheel is meant to encourage people to get active and improve their health, happiness, and fitness by walking, biking, or wheeling (rollerblading, skateboarding etc.) to their destinations throughout the day.
Active transportation, which is any form of human-powered, non-motorized transportation, improves individual and community health and can be part of everyday routines, such as getting to work, school, and shopping.
Join City of Orillia staff as they are encouraged to walk, bike, or wheel to work, or take part in a 30-minute lunchtime walk to promote active transportation in the community.
The City of Orillia is a city of 31,000 people in the heart of Ontario’s Lake Country on the shores of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. Visit our website at orillia.ca.
