For the first time, the Leacock Museum National Historic Site decodes the life and cryptic diaries of revolutionary British lesbian, Anne Lister. This exhibit explores the themes of Canadian Queer history, the art of code breaking, and the world in which Anne Lister existed. Launching September 13, this exhibit will be available during self-guided home tours.

Couchiching Beach Park

This 14.5-acre park is one of Orillia's richest attractions. Hosting sandy beaches, an outdoor theatre venue, a historic miniature train ride, trail systems, and a number of annual events, the park is favourite for locals and visitors alike to explore year-round.

The Port of Orillia

Every summer, thousands of boaters dock at the Port of Orillia. For many Orillia is a destination; for others, it is a special stop on a voyage through the historic 386-kilometre Trent-Severn Waterway. Just steps away from great dining and shopping in Downtown Orillia, the Port is a favourite stop for summer visitors.

Since its historic opening in 1895, the Orillia Opera House has been a focal point for the cultural life of the City of Orillia. As the only professional quality performing arts venue in the town, the Orillia Opera House produces professional theatre during the summer and presents concerts and educational programming throughout the year.

The Opera House is also home to our Visitor Information Centre.

How can I access the downtown waterfront?

As a result of current and planned construction during the 2023 summer season, there are some impacts to access, parking and park amenities that residents and visitors should note.

The Port of Orillia and Couchiching Beach Park remain open to the public with limited vehicular access. To learn more about accessing the waterfront, current closures, and project progress, please visit our Navigating the Downtown Waterfront webpage.

Alternatively, parking is available within walking distance in the downtown. Please visit our parking webpage for maps and payment information at Orillia.ca/parking

Where can I find parking?

There are many pay and display municipal parking lots in downtown Orillia. You can find a map of available municipal parking lots on our parking webpage at Orillia.ca/parking. Rates range from $1.00 an hour to $1.25 an hour, enforced Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

The Passport Parking app can be used to pay for on-street parking and in the pay and display parking lots.

The cost for metered parking in downtown Orillia is as follows:

Mississaga Street East and West Street North/South: $3.00 an hour. 
Mississaga Street West and all side streets: $1.75 an hour.
On-street metered parking has a two hour time limit. This is enforced Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Is there a fee to park at the waterfront and/or use the boat launch?

At this time, vehicles without the use of a boat trailer may park for free in municipal waterfront lots. 

In effect May 15 to Oct. 15, visitors looking to park their boat trailers are required to pay $10 per hour, up to a maximum of $50 per day during Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no additional fee to use the launch ramps.

Residents may park their boat trailers for free with usage of a Resident Boat Trailer Parking Permit.

Waterfront access at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park as well as the Collins Drive boat launch is currently open to the public.

I don't drive, what is the best way to get around Orillia?

Orillia's public transit system runs seven days a week, with the exception of public holidays. Visit orillia.ca/transit for schedules, maps, and rate information.
