Community Event Posting Guidelines

The City of Orillia shares information about activities, programs, meetings, events, and festivals hosted by the City and its partners on our website Events calendar. The City may also choose to include additional events that it believes are of interest or benefit to the community. All submissions are reviewed, and inclusion on the calendar is at the City’s discretion.

Public event information will be included on the City’s calendar if it is within the boundary of the City of Orillia or for any township whose boundaries touch the City of Orillia boundaries. Virtual events may also be included on the calendar if they are organized by those based in the approved municipalities or if it has a clear connection to the local community.

Events submitted by staff or requests from the public will not be published on the City's website calendar if they:

  • Are commercial in nature and, in the City's sole opinion, are attempting to advertise, promote or sell products or services of an individual or an individual business unless a City sponsored or sanctioned event;
  • Promote, exhibit, illustrate or manifest hate or obscene/pornographic/sexual content of any kind;
  • Promote an individual religion or religious service;
  • Events deemed by the City of Orillia to be political in nature will not be posted (with the exception of notices of "All Candidates Meetings", "All Candidates Debates", Ward Meetings, voting locations and similar general election information pertaining to municipal, provincial and federal elections);
  • Fundraising events unless they are for registered charities, non-profit organizations, or in the City's opinion a community building event not for business profit. The City of Orillia does not benefit from the proceeds of the fundraising event.

The City reserves the right to post, refuse to post, or remove any event from its website calendar at any time, without notice.

To be considered for publication an event submission must be accompanied by a name and contact information of an individual from the event organizing committee. Anonymous postings of events will not be published.
