City of Orillia Hosting Drop-In Job Fair for Winter Control Trades Operators
The City of Orillia is recruiting for the upcoming winter season and invites interested candidates to attend an Job Fair to learn about the Winter Control Trades 1 Operator position. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the position, meet City staff and ask questions about working with the City of Orillia's winter operations team.

Location: Municipal Operations Centre, 26 James St. W., Orillia
The City has 12 contract openings for the position of Winter Control Trades 1 Operator These seasonal positions will run from Nov. 2, 2026, to April 16, 2027.
Position Responsibilities
Winter Control Trades 1 Operators play a key role in helping keep Orillia's roads, sidewalks, and municipal infrastructure safe during the winter months. Duties include:
- Operating winter maintenance equipment.
- Performing snow clearing and roadway maintenance.
- Assisting with municipal infrastructure maintenance.
- Participating in on-call winter operations.
- Working evenings, weekends, and rotating shifts.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
- A valid Ontario Class ‘DZ’ driver's licence, or a willingness to obtain one, with an acceptable drivers' abstract.
- An acceptable Criminal Record Check prior to employment.
Previous experience operating municipal and/or highway plowing equipment is considered an asset.
Compensation and Application Deadline
The position offers a wage range of $28.45 to $31.84 per hour (Oct. 1, 2026, rates) based on a 40-hour work week.
