Information session for prospective election candidates and third-party advertisers on July 15

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, in partnership with the City of Orillia and the Townships of Oro-Medonte, Ramara, Severn and Springwater, is hosting a free information session for those who are interested in running in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections, or registering as Third-Party Advertisers.

Municipal Election Information Session:

  • Date: Wednesday, July 15, 2026
  • Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Location: Inside the Orillia Room at the West Orillia Sports Complex, located at 100 University Ave.
  • Registration: Contact the Township of Severn’s Customer Service Team at 705-325-2315 or customercare@severn.ca to register. 

The session will be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, alongside municipal clerks from the City of Orillia and the Townships of Oro-Medonte, Ramara, Severn, and Springwater.

During the session, representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing will present information and answer questions on various topics including roles and responsibilities, eligibility rules, the nomination process, campaign finances, compliance audits, the voters’ list, key dates, and more.

The 2026 Municipal Election takes place on Monday, Oct. 26. Persons interested in running for office are reminded that the nomination period is now open until Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.
