Orillia businesses invited to complete Business and Employment Data Survey

For immediate release (June 11, 2026) – The City of Orillia is conducting a Business and Employment Data Survey to better understand the local economy, support businesses, and plan for future growth. Businesses will be invited to share current data to help the City guide informed decision-making.

This comprehensive initiative will gather information on local business operations, employment activity, and industry trends across Orillia. Survey participation is voluntary and offers businesses the opportunity to grow business-to-business relationships, learn about new organizations, and be included in an online business directory.

"The Business and Employment Data Survey will help us build stronger relationships with local employers and identify emerging trends across the community,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “Through this collaborative process, City staff will use data collected from Orillia businesses to help proactively support business retention, respond to employer needs, and foster conditions that encourage investment, expansion, and job creation.”

City staff have begun visiting businesses to provide them with the opportunity to participate.  Survey data collection will continue through August 31. If it’s not convenient for business owners to complete the survey during the in-person visit, or prefer to complete the survey online, they can do so by visiting businessinorillia.ca/Survey.

Following data collection, the City will use information such as industry, location, and contact details to create a publicly accessible online business directory. Individual business owner information will be collected and managed in accordance with privacy legislation, with publicly shared information limited to business directory and economic development purposes.
