Orillia to open cooling centres July 13 to 16 due to heat warning

For immediate release (July 13, 2026) – Due to the current heat warning issued by Environment Canada, the City of Orillia will open air-conditioned cooling and hydration centres for public use July 13 to July 16, 2026. The City encourages anyone - especially those susceptible to extreme heat - to make use of the centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat warning is lifted. 

Cooling and hydration centres:

Orillia Public Library
36 Mississaga St. W.
Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Orillia Recreation Centre
255 West St. S.
Monday to Thursday: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Splashpads:

Clayt French Park
114 Atlantis Dr.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Moose Beach at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park
450 Atherley Rd.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Walter Henry Park
3050 Orion Blvd.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Hillcrest Park
255 Matchedash St. N.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Victoria Park
75 Coldwater Rd. W.
Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Beaches:

  • Couchiching Beach is open with lifeguards on duty daily. Lifeguard hours have been extended to 6:00 p.m. (normally noon to 5:00 p.m.).
  • Moose Beach open with lifeguards on duty daily. Lifeguard hours have been extended to 6:00 p.m. (normally 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
