Orillia to open cooling centres June 30 to July 3 due to heat warning
For immediate release (June 30, 2026) – Due to the current heat warning issued by Environment Canada, the City of Orillia will open air-conditioned cooling and hydration centres for public use June 30 to July 3, 2026. The City encourages anyone – especially those susceptible to extreme heat – to make use of the centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat warning is lifted however the Canada Day holiday will affect location opening and hours.

- Couchiching Beach open with lifeguards on duty daily. Lifeguard hours have been extended to 6:00 p.m. (normally noon to 5:00 p.m.).
- Moose Beach open with lifeguards on duty daily. Lifeguard hours have been extended to
6:00 p.m. (normally 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
