Fall cleanup: Leaf disposal tips and protecting drainage

Residents are reminded to keep leaves out of ditches, roads, and storm drains to help prevent drainage issues and localized flooding.

When raking your yard:

  • Keep leaves out of ditches and drainage areas.
  • Do not rake or blow leaves onto roads.

Raking or placing leaves in a ditch is prohibited. Fines and administrative fees may apply.

Dispose of leaves properly:

Residents have the following options for disposing of fall leaves:

Curbside collection: Place leaves at the curb in paper yard bags, compostable bags or labelled rigid containers. Garbage tags are not required.

Landfill: Bring bagged or loose leaves to the landfill free of charge.

Help keep stormwater flowing and Orillia’s roadsides, ditches and community clean by disposing of leaves properly.
