Site Plan Control

Site Plan Control is a planning process used in Orillia to review and approve the detailed design of a development before construction begins. Through the Site Plan Control process, the City reviews matters such as building location and orientation, access and driveways, parking and loading areas, landscaping, lighting, drainage, servicing, waste storage, and pedestrian safety features.

The goal is to ensure that development functions well, is compatible with surrounding properties, and meets municipal standards and policies.

Preconsultation

Preconsultation is mandatory for all Site Plan Approval Planning Applications. The City uses a two-stage Preconsultation process which applies to most Site Plan Approval applications.  Planning staff have developed a Guide to Preconsultation to assist applicants with the new process.
