Get Involved

Waste management services help to keep Orillia clean and moving toward a sustainable future. By focusing on waste reduction, reuse, and responsible disposal, Orillia is working to keep valuable materials in use and reduce what ends up in landfill.

Report illegal dumping

Littering and illegal dumping are not allowed under the City’s Solid Waste Management By‑law and may result in fines of up to $300.

Curbside garbage and organics collection

The City provides curbside garbage collection every other week and weekly curbside organics collection. Use the interactive tool to find your collection zone and pickup schedule.

Waste facilities

Orillia’s Waste Diversion Site is open Tuesday to Friday, for intake of accepted materials. Materials that cannot be placed in curbside collection programs can be brought to the site for diversion or disposal. Household hazardous waste can be safely disposed of at the Household Hazardous Waste Depot

Reduce, reuse and get involved

By getting involved in waste management, through simple actions like reusing, repairing, donating, or swapping, every resident can help Orillia reduce waste and meet its climate goals. Together, small local actions add up to a big difference for our community and the environment.

The Waste Management Advisory Committee supports programs and policies that encourage responsible waste management in Orillia through community involvement.

Visit the Reuse Depot

Find gently used goods, free of charge, at the Reuse Depot, located within the Waste Diversion Site. Items that can be found in the reuse depot include, furniture in good condition, working small appliances, garden tools, yard equipment, paint, stains, detergent/cleaning supplies, household décor, small electronics and more.

Treasure hunt weekends

On select third weekends of the month from May to October, Orillia transforms into one big reuse event. Dates will be added to the City's community calendar when available.

Organize a community clean-up

Residents can organize a litter clean‑up at any time of year. If you’re hosting a clean‑up event, register to receive free special garbage tags for collected litter.
